  • #57 Flipping The Script With Laura Folkes: Truce With Food
    Sep 25 2024

    Send us a text

🎧 On this episode of Everything's Messy Podcast I sit down with Laura Folkes as she flips the script and coaches me! If you've ever felt like you're stuck in a battle with food, this is the episode for you!

Laura shares her incredible journey of making peace with food after years of weight loss struggles and restrictive dieting. Her approach, called "Truce with Food," is all about digging deep and understanding the emotional triggers behind our food choices—and wow, did we dig deep today!

    🍪 Highlights from this Episode:

    • Laura’s personal story of losing 60 pounds but still feeling out of balance with food.
    • How we can have a "truce" with food instead of constantly battling with willpower and restriction.
    • My own revelation about why I sometimes rebel against food rules—yes, Laura totally coached me on this one!
    • The emotional and psychological triggers behind our eating habits, like a need for belonging or feeling misunderstood (spoiler: it goes way deeper than cravings).
    • How to make food an accessory to life, rather than the star of the show at every gathering.
    • A powerful shift in mindset: learning when to rebel intentionally and when it might be costing you more than you think.

💡 Messy Moment of the Episode: We really shake up the snow globe on this one, as Laura says! You'll hear me get real about dealing with holiday food temptations and that constant "choose your hard" mentality, especially as a Type 1 Diabetic. The rebellion is real, and the struggle is messy, but as Laura shows me, there’s a way through it.

  • #55 Tragedy to Trailblazing: Kevin Hoover's Mission To Hug Your People
    Sep 11 2024

    Send us a text

On this episode of Everything's Messy Podcast I share a quick message about 9/11 and pay tribute to all the heroes and victims who lost their lives on that tragic day. May we always remember.

Into the episode we go where I have a heart-wrenching yet empowering episode, join me as I dive into an incredible conversation with Kevin Hoover, entrepreneur, consultant, and the founder of Hug Your People. Kevin's story is one filled with the raw realities of life, messiness, and a transformation born out of hardship. 💪

Kevin opens up about his picture-perfect suburban life, where one moment he was the dad on the soccer field with his cappuccino ☕, and the next, he was thrust into a whirlwind—his son was diagnosed with cancer. The shift from “soccer dad” to “cancer dad” happened in the blink of an eye, with no warning signs or preparation. 🚁 Kevin shares the terrifying moment when his son was airlifted to the hospital due to kidney failure caused by a tumor. 💔

🌪️Through the chaos, Kevin found a new sense of clarity, purpose, and strength. Despite the heartache, Kevin and his family rallied together, and his son bravely fought through the unimaginable. 🙌 Kevin details the physical and emotional toll, from collapsing on the kitchen floor in exhaustion to juggling his business life during his son’s treatment.

Out of this experience came a beautiful idea—Hug Your People. Inspired by his son’s resistance to wheelchairs and preference for riding in wagons, Kevin and his family began donating wagons to other pediatric cancer patients. To date, they’ve donated over 400 wagons to families going through similar battles. 🚂💕

🌟Kevin also dives into how this messy journey changed his approach to life and business. After learning how to balance life while running a business during his son’s treatment, he found that focusing only on what matters most led to success—tripling his revenue while working less. Now, Kevin helps others find their time and create meaningful, purpose-driven lives.

    Sep 4 2024

On this episode of Everything's Messy Podcast, I'm chatting with Jason Silver we get into his his brand-new book Your Grass Is Greener and the messy journey that inspired it. 🌱✨Jason's story is one of deep love, loss, and the drive to find purpose even when life throws you into the deepest, messiest pits. After losing his beloved sister Rachel to a sudden and aggressive illness, Jason found himself spiraling down.

  • #50 Resilience And Advocacy: Transforming Pain Into Power
    Aug 7 2024

    Send us a text

In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I have a deeply personal and inspiring conversation with Amy Lenius. A holistic coach along with being a part of the ever growing Next Level University. We delve into the journey of discovering self-worth and navigating the complexities of healing. Amy shares her powerful story of overcoming immense physical pain, the challenges of managing endometriosis, and the pivotal moments that led her to advocate fiercely for her health. From near-death experiences to becoming a public speaker and coach, this episode is a testament to the resilience and strength found within.

Amy discusses her journey by cultivating self-belief and self-worth, which were crucial in transforming her external environment. These practices led her to public speaking about women's health, essential oils, and detoxing homes. This expansion naturally progressed into coaching women through the Peaceful Period Project, where she provided holistic insights into hormone health, helping women understand their bodies and environments.

Amy leaves us with a powerful message: you don't need a near-death experience to recognize your self-worth and take control of your healing journey. Small, consistent steps and a commitment to self-care can lead to profound transformations. Embrace your journey, advocate for yourself, and know that you are not alone.

Tune in to this episode for a heartfelt and inspiring conversation that offers hope, guidance, and practical advice for anyone on their own path to healing and self-discovery.
