Aware that some people consider her unworthy of the title Mrs Darcy, Lizzy is determined to prove her detractors wrong by throwing a magnificent house party at her new home, Pemberley. Nothing can possibly go wrong…can it? Miss Caroline Bingley is quite determined to rescue Darcy from his reckless marriage. Convinced he must now regret his choice, she finds an unlikely ally in George Wickham who also wishes to avenge Lizzy, albeit for a very different reason. If Darcy were to find his ‘fine-eyed’ wife in a compromising position with Wickham of all people, he would surely never forgive her.

Lady Catherine de Bourgh has invited herself to Pemberley, intent upon bringing about an engagement between her daughter Anne and Colonel Fitzwilliam. But her ladyship has failed to take into account the remarkable improvement in her daughter's health and spirits since the arrival of her new tutor, the charismatic Mr Asquith. Meanwhile, Colonel Fitzwilliam is becoming more enchanted by the widowed Celia Sheffield and is perturbed to learn that her fortune is being contested by an individual in Jamaica - from whence Mr Asquith also hails.

After an absence of twelve years, Dominic Sanford returns to his dilapidated estate on the borders of Pemberley a troubled man. Journals have recently come into his possession that bring into question the accident that killed both of his parents and suggests they could have been murdered. Dominic will know no peace until he discovers the truth. Georgiana Darcy feels an immediate attraction towards her brother’s engaging friend.

Lizzy Darcy’s spring house party is becoming a Pemberley tradition and this year Lizzy will have the pleasure of all her sisters’ company. She is apprehensive at the thought of her mother, Mrs Bennett and the formidable Lady Catherine De Burgh being at Pemberley at the same time especially, as there is to be an exciting announcement from Lizzie’s sister Kitty. Richard Turner, recently promoted to the rank of major, plans to propose to Kitty during the course of the party.

With her rakish husband Wickham now dead, Lydia remains subdued and consumed by delayed guilt for the selfish behaviour that almost cost her family its respectability. Hoping to ease her sister’s anguish, Lizzy Darcy encourages Lydia to record her earliest memories of life with Wickham…but Lydia can only recall acts of rebellion and scandal and falls into an even deeper slump.
