Sha’oul, Lord of the Arisen, marches on to overthrow Rochata-Ung with only a ragtag band of heroes in his way. Reza, the saren knight responsible for the arisen lord’s recent defeat, struggles with Nomad, her cursed companion, drawing her and her friends thin and to their wits end in helping him to resist the call of darkness welling up deep within him. Met with indolence from the region’s leaders, they are left to make strange connections and allies to help in defending their home state from impending doom. The dead are within the Southern Sands borders, and few have prepared for the imminent tides of war.

Kharon, the Boatman of Hell, has been doing his job since the dawn of time - and he is tired. As a demon, Kharon had always been feared by the souls as he ferried them to their afterlives. But, not anymore. The world has changed, and the mortal souls he now encounters are self-entitled jerks. Instead of cowering, and asking why they are in Hell, they argue, and they demand to see his manager or a lawyer. This human behavior alone has Kharon dreaming of retirement; leaving his boatman role to be carried on by his last living heir.
