  • In this Episode, Chris Knotts interviews Shane Hastie about training from the back of the room (TBR), a set of practices designed to engage learners in a classroom setting. Shane shares his background in information technology and his involvement in the Agile movement. He explains that TBR is based on brain science principles and emphasizes movement, conversation, images, writing, shorter sessions, and variety. The goal is to transition from being a sage on the stage to a guide on the side, providing learners with just enough information and facilitating discussions and activities that promote active learning. The conversation explores the different objectives of a learning experience and how Training from the Back of the Room (TBR) can be applied to each objective. The four main objectives discussed are: acquiring knowledge, building skills, creating alignment, and establishing a common language/socialization.
