  • Ep. 26: Beyond the Diagnosis: Unraveling a Medical Mystery
    Oct 24 2023

It all started with what was presumed to be a standard case of perimenopause. Michelle's menstrual cycles were getting heavier and unpredictable, but when she began getting winded walking up a flight of stairs she suspected something much more serious was going on. After numerous attempts to get to the bottom of why she felt so awful, a medication that was supposed to help her, ended up almost taking her life. Although this side effect was documented, it was so rare, none of her doctors were aware of it and the cycle of trying to get her healed started all over again. This story is truly one misstep after another after another and without Michelle's perserverance and advocating for herself she most likely would have had a very different outcome.

    Thank you for listening.

  • Ep. 25: The Invisible Illness
    Oct 18 2023

What happens when you are suffering from an illness that no one can see? When a friend or family member is diagosed with cancer or has a stroke, we can see the physical manifestations and everyone rallies around that person with support, but the same does not hold true for mental illness.

Mathew Blades was at the height of his career as a radio and television personality when he began having constant back pain, then shingles and finally a series of severe panic attacks. The last panic attack was so severe, Mathew was positive he was going to die. When the ER doctor said "there is nothing physically wrong with you", he knew it was time to make some drastic changes in his life and he walked away from the life he knew to address the generation trauma and lead a life of purpose.
