    • Ep. 30: Against the Odds - Surthriving 16 years after a Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis
      Mar 20 2024

In this inspiring episode, we meet Chris Parrish, a remarkable individual who defied the odds by surviving stage IV pancreatic cancer; diagnosed in 2008. Despite experiencing symptoms for five years, her diagnosis was delayed due to the elusive nature of the disease and the fact that she was only 35. Since her diagnosis, she has not only survived but thrived, becoming a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges. Chris founded the Purple Iris Foundation to raise awareness, provide support and hope for others diagnosed with cancer in Maine.

Chris's journey is all the more remarkable as she also faced a secondary challenge—a traumatic brain injury resulting from a fall on the ice. Despite this additional hurdle, she remains steadfast in her determination to overcome both of these health challenges and be a beacon of light for others.

Through Chris's story, we learn about the importance of being your own advocate, having a positive attitude and being a true partner with your medical team. Her experience sheds light on the complexities of pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatment, highlighting the need for increased awareness and research in this field.

Join us as we delve into Chris's journey, from the initial symptoms to her life as a survthriver (Chris's own term for surviving & thriving).
