Jake Burger, Connor Norby, Jesus Sanchez and Jonah Bride each hit a solo home run for the Marlins, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Atlanta Braves beat Miami 5-4 on Sunday.

Michael Harris II tripled, singled and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on Jorge Soler’s infield single with the bases loaded against Declan Cronin (3-4) in the seventh to put the Braves ahead.

Miami loaded the bases with no outs against Aaron Bummer in the bottom of the 7th. Otto López and Derek Hill singled, and Nick Fortes reached on a sacrifice. Bummer struck out Xavier Edwards, then Daysbel Hernández came in and struck out Norby, then retired Jesús Sánchez on a lineout to right.

The Marlins tied it at 4-all on consecutive homers from Norby and Sánchez to start the sixth. Harris hit a game-tying RBI triple and scored on Olson’s single in the fifth that erased a 2-1 deficit.

Urshela homered for the second consecutive day with his solo drive in the sixth to extend Atlanta’s lead.

Jake Burger hit a solo homer off Braves starter Grant Holmes, putting the Marlins ahead 2-1 in the fourth.

Miami tied it at 1-all when Jonah Bride homered in the second.

Gio Urshela and Ozzie Albies homered for the Braves. Matt Olson added two hits and an RBI for the Braves (85-71), who are just 1.5 games behind the New York Mets for the third NL wild card. (prior to Sunday night's Mets vs Phillies game)

Braves closer Raisel Iglesias pitched the final two innings for his 32nd save. Pierce Johnson (6-5) got the win. Holmes gave up two runs and three hits in four-plus innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Albies gave Atlanta a quick lead with his solo homer in the first.

In their final home game of the season, the Marlins crowd of 20,104 and total attendance at 1,085,055 for the season put them 29th in the major leagues, ahead of only the Oakland A’s, who are moving to Las Vegas. The Marlins drew 1,162,819 last year, when the club ended a 20-year playoff drought over a 162-game season. Miami finished 30-51 at home, and will play three-game series at Minnesota and Toronto the final week of the season.

Jesús Sánchez hit two doubles and drove in three runs, and Jake Burger added a huge two-run home run late, as the Miami Marlins beat Shohei Ohtani and the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers 11-9 on Tuesday night in the series opener in Miami.

Sánchez went 5 for 5, setting a Marlins franchise record. Otto López also homered for the Marlins.

Ohtani struck out three times, but he did hit his 48th home run as he continues his quest to become the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a season. He did not steal a base for the fifth straight game and remains at 48.

Burger's home run was a two-run shot in the eighth that made it 11-7 and gave the Marlins a big (and needed) cushion, because Max Muncy would bring the Dodgers within two on a two-run double off Jesús Tinoco in the ninth.

Connor Norby went 2 for 3 with a single, double and two walks, becoming the first Marlin with four runs scored in a single game this season.

Kyle Stowers added an RBI triple in the fourth and a run-scoring double in the sixth for the Marlins, who had 15 hits in the game.

Reliever Anthony Veneziano picked up his first major league win after striking out two and allowing one hit over 1 1/3 inning.

The Marlins scored four runs in the first two innings off starter Bobby Miller, who was lifted after allowing seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

The Dodgers responded with a four-run third jumpstarted by Ohtani's two-run shot against starter Darren McCaughan that he crushed 402 feet to right.

McCaughan pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on six hits and striking out four. Miguel Rojas also homered off McCaughan.

Marlins RHP Sandy Alcantara threw his first live batting practice since having Tommy John surgery in October. LHP Braxton Garrett allowed three hits in five innings and 80 pitches in a start for Triple-A Jacksonville.

The Dodgers (89-62) are 5-5 in their last ten games. They are up by 3.5 games in the division over the San Diego Padres, and two games behind the Phillies for the best record in the NL with eleven games left.
