Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery.

Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

These retellings of the Cupid and Psyche myth give shape to one of the novels I've read that is best at giving the reader an internal perspective of someone living in the Ancient world. You can see that it's written by someone passionate about and fond of the Ancient world. Reading the book is almost a time capsule, the modern mindset, sensibilities and mundaneness don't really make an appearance in it.
