Brought the magic back

I have been reading so many contemporary & dark romances the last month & this book brought the magic back into my life 🖤 I really enjoyed this one, though I felt confused at times I still had a very clear picture of the world I was in and who every character was…and that kept me going. I liked the pace, the world building and the fact that it had a bit of everything from some of my favorite books yet it felt different. The magic system is unique &

The audio definitely added to this, as we have some music at the beginning of every chapter & section of the story & well Teddy Hamilton can do no wrong in my opinion 🖤

I loved that the FMC is such a badass from the go, she’s fearless & powerful - her only weakness is love and this is something she never really knew about herself. The MMC is your typical grumpy yet “touch her & die” man, but I couldn’t help but root for them. The enemies to Lovers energy is palpable & you can actually see when it shifts & I was here for it!
Cannot skip the side characters & the found family. I would love to read their origin story - they make up the whole universe in my opinion

There are parts that feel “missing” like time has passed but I didn’t mind it too much as once I got back to it I couldn’t stop 🖤

It was very reminiscent of Throne of the Fallen with a burlesque style. The plot was solid though it felt at times that we were jumping in time & the characters had evolved without us being privy to that part of the story.

I feel like this could have been a duet & that would have given the author room to fully explore her world - I would still definitely recommend this book, especially the audio, it’s a lyrical fantasy ride I enjoyed
