À propos de cette écoute
The Lion. Son of the Emperor, brother of demigods and Primarch of the Dark Angels. Awakened. Returned. And yet...lost.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
Witness the Emperor’s First Son make his dramatic return to the 41st Millennium! Much has changed since he last walked among the stars, but not Lion El’Jonson’s drive to protect humanity from the threats that assail it from all sides.
THE STORY
After ten thousand years of dreaming, locked in stasis at the heart of his shattered home world, Lion El'Jonson wakes to the nightmare of Imperium Nihilus.
In this midnight age, the dying embers of humanity are threatened on all sides by the hungry darkness. Alone, even the Lion has no hope of prevailing against such evil – but there are those who would aid him in his quest. Hunted to the edge of endurance, many among his Fallen knights have long-awaited the day their liege would return to redeem them. The Lord of Shadowed Paths must gather these lost loyalists to his side once more, and stride forth to vanquish a traitorous son and the twisted Chaos warband that calls him master.
Faced with these strange times, the Lion can be certain of nothing and no one, except for himself. But in a galaxy without the Emperor, without the Imperium, without his Legion, and without Caliban…who is he?

A slow starting masterpiece
The book starts quite slowly, with a first chapter extremely descriptive, to show the very contemplative feels of the Lion. This nearly draw me away from the book, but I held on. And damn, the story kicks from chapter 2 to never stop!
The descriptions of isolated imperial worlds, of a Lion getting back on his two feets, and of a 1st legion with hell of a lot of skeletons in the cupboard... everything keeps you wanting for more.
Thanks a lot Mike for this piece of art! And thanks to all the narators, their voices are just to the point ☺️

A primarch's tale as it should be told
I do not write nearly enough reviews on here, even though I listen to a lot of 40k audiobooks. It was also my first one by this author but I can confidently say the Lion's story could not have been more expert expertly handled. There are amazing ideas, emotions and characters but more importantly (and what was my main concern before listening), the point of view of Lion is brilliantly told. I found myself noting down quotes regularily.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who has the slightest interest in recent 40k lore. Hats off to the voice actor as well, whose talent makes me eager to listen to more of his acting!
