When Lady Lavinia first meets Edmund Templeton, the heir to the duke of Cambria, she finds him to be every inch the fist-fighting, rude, obnoxious rake rumors had painted him to be. When one of the duke's former gambling partner's manipulates it so Lavinia and Edmund are caught in a compromising situation, the pair is forced into a hasty plot to thwart a marriage of convenience, one Lavinia fears will end in disaster.
Edmund Templeton, son of the duke of Cambria, had always been a huge admirer of wives - provided they belonged to other men, of course. When his old love takes her revenge by forcing him into an unwanted marriage with a dowdy spinster, Edmund vows he will not let an inconvenient thing like a bride ruin his bachelor lifestyle.
By chance, Edmund and Lavinia realize the sparks can't be denied, and the pair has to work out this tension. This marriage might just have a happy ending - if only they'll allow it.
