À propos de cette écoute

The sea dragons are returning, and Joron Twiner's dreams of freedom lie shattered. His Shipwife is gone, and all he has left is revenge.

Leading the black fleet from the deck of Tide Child, Joron takes every opportunity to strike at his enemies, but he knows his time is limited. His fleet is shrinking, and the Keyshan's Rot is running through his body. He runs from a prophecy that says he and the avian sorcerer, the Windseer, will end the entire world.

But the sea dragons have begun to return, and if you can have one miracle, who is to say that there cannot be another?

Miss, Hit, Miss, such squandered potential

Breathtaking action scenes, wasted on completely irrelevant events that slow the plot to a halt.
Lovable characters, repeatedly sent to needless and contrived deaths.
Captivating intrigue and lore mysteries, but none of the crucial and most teased ones are remotely explored.
Clever foreshadowing and plot twists, yet the bulk of the story is based on so many red herrings that by the second half there are no surprises left for the reader.
Beautiful descriptive prose and heartwarming moments, only to have a cheesy epilogue that really does not answer any question we might have at this point. And I swear that if I hear another time the formulation "if they [X] then they did not [Y]" I'm going to smash something.
Relatable character growth that is regularly reset for every character.

Much like the rest of the trilogy, this book should have been so much more than it is. Barker is evidently a great writer, but fails to focus that talent on the parts that matter, and so we drift from one chapter hoping that all this time wasted will be rewarded in the next chapter. Sometimes it is, sometimes not. Either way, it was hard to care past a certain point, and the immersion was broken very often.

Jude Osuwu does a good job and gives a pleasant rythm to the story, though some voices can be a bit similar, which can get frustrating when five or six characters are in one room (which is bound to happen with so many characters in the story). But apart from that small detail, his performance was very recommendable.
