In addition, we firmly believe that representation matters. Ethnic socialization promotes children’s cultural and ethnic pride.
Our collections give parents another mechanism to transmit information, values, and perspectives about ethnicity and race to their children, particularly black and African American children.

Abimbola Dames is a black author with a master's level background in psychology and a passion for kids' fiction representing black children. It's important to note this, as part of the diversity movement in publishing, is not just to publish more books with diverse characters but also to bring more books by minority authors into the world.
