À propos de cette écoute
Sobriety Simplified explores the biological machinations of alcoholism. Where in the brain does addiction take root, and what does that look like? We’ll explore the emotional midbrain: What happens there? We’ll explore the psychological aspects of alcohol abuse and how to treat our physical and emotional concerns. As with everything organic, Biology plays a role in how and why we behave the way we do. In most cases, we act in response to our environmental cues. we’ll explore what those cues might look like and how to handle them.
Included are strategies to address cognitive dissonance. I'll discuss this curious condition in greater detail, providing insights into how it works so that we can address and treat it. I provide tools to strengthen our ability to resist stress. I explain why distress tolerance is essential and suggest strategies for expanding that tolerance.
I explore the brain structures linked with alcoholism and how they need to be addressed to ensure a lasting recovery. A clear understanding of what happens in these areas helps us understand how and why we should work to heal them. I also explore tools for healing the gut microbiome. Excessive drinking is battering our digestive tract. In this book, I’ll introduce the gut microbiome, its functions, and how to get it back to doing what it does best—digesting.
Sobriety Simplified presents a secular approach to recovery from Alcohol Use Disorder, framed uniquely. The tools within are explained with brevity so they can be quickly learned and applied effectively. Sobriety Simplified is an invitation to your recovery, opening doors to new concepts and inspiring further curiosity in familiar ideas.
