À propos de cette écoute
When she agreed to go on a date with quantum physicist Dr. David Fergusson, Kate Kallastad never expected that he would insist on demonstrating his breakthrough in the creation of a trans-space teleportation device. Nor did she expect to get caught up in a science experiment that would send both Kate and her date back in time.
Stranded in the past with nothing but time on her hands, Kate accepts a job as a maid in the household of the gorgeous, commanding earl of Harrowby - a man unlike any she's ever met before.
Brandon Ryder, the earl of Harrowby, has spent a lifetime bound by the rules of society, and one of those rules is that a gentleman doesn't trifle with the help. However, Kate Kallastad is no ordinary employee. His lovely new maid challenges him at every turn, astounding him with her audacity to treat him not as an earl but as a mere mortal man. Kate's honesty and comfortable familiarity dares Brandon to break free of boundaries that have long ruled him, enticing him to indulge in the truest passion of his life...and his growing passion for her.

Disappointing!
This was the first time I purchased an Angeline Fortin's and it was a total disappointment. What irked me most was that the heroine was supposed to be educated (PhD in biochimestry) and clever. Which by definition would suggest a capacity to adapt to her environment and to try to blend in a society where women were subject to iron rules of conduct. But this is not at all what happened. The first time she met the earl alone, she practically jumped him. Would you believe that a man of this era would think of her as only "different and refreshing" and not label her a harlot? Could you believe that because she is American she can speak without any filter to anyone around her (her co-workers, the members of her employer's family?)without repercussions?
Regarding the historical elements of the story, I am sorry to say that it was very superficial. There was no real research to support the story.
However, the performance of Anthony Fergusson was very good. I will look for other audiobooks where he will perform!
As a conclusion, I would not recommend this book despite the performance of the reader who is the only positive element of this work.
