À propos de cette écoute
While coping mechanisms can get you through the day, at the end of the day, they’re just that: A way to cope, but not a resolution. Far too many people think, “I have mental health issues, and there’s nothing I can do about it.” While this is altogether untrue, it’s for good reason you might think this way. The very professionals who are supposed to be guiding you toward healing and emotional wellness are possessed by this attitude and therefore pass it along to the general public.
When a mental health professional focuses solely on medication and coping mechanisms, what’s the underlying message? It’s something like, “I don’t believe you can ever truly get better, so don’t try. Instead, rely on medication and learning to cope.” Do you see how, while not directly stated, that’s the underlying message of such an approach? If there is another way, why doesn’t the common mental health professional know about it? As someone who went through a master’s program in mental health counseling, I can say with certainty that it’s because professionals are brainwashed into believing strictly in medication plus coping mechanisms from day one.
There is another way. It’s the way of the mental health crusader. It won’t be easy - what worthwhile crusade has ever been easy? - but it will free you from the self-captivity to which you’ve fallen victim.
Are you ready to face your internal enemy and take back your mental health?
