In this riveting sequel to the New York Times bestselling novel Dark Rise, Will and his allies have survived the Dark’s first assault, but at a terrible cost.

A new threat from the past is rising, and only a handful of heroes remain to fight. Pursued by dark forces, Will and his allies must leave the safety of the Hall and travel to the heart of the ancient world, making new and dangerous alliances and revealing the shocking secrets of the past.

But Will is carrying a dark secret of his own—his true identity. Drawn to the beautiful and deadly James St. Clair, Will is pulled ever deeper into the web of the past and finds himself tempted by the darkness within. As the ancient world threatens to return, can Will and his friends fight their fate? Or will the truths they learn tear their world apart?

    The suspense is unsustenable

Love it so far and I can’t wait to listen to the last book of this trilogy. The reader is also good and you go deep into the story trough his performance.
I’ll probably bought the books to hord them.

What’s next might spoile the story:
I love the story and the characters. They are nicely developed so you get attached… bad ideas since they most likely end up dead at some point of the story. Until the last minute, I was waiting for the author to kill the main character so she could sadisticaly flip flop our brain, which would actually be an act of compation and would put Will out of his misery. Don’t get me wrong, I really love Will but he seems to bear is life (I want to know why!?) How can he live like that. Everything goes against him and yet, so far, he goes on (worse than Harry Potter’s life). He loose his family, has no friends, then has friends and even possible lovers but all goes sideways at some point.
I’m sure there is something behind it, like some kind of enchantement that prevent him to fully achieve anything and to see his past life. Some kind of revenge spell and we’ll discover in the last book that nothing is what it seems to be. Where did the last king escape to, reminde me please?! He’s vaguely mention and then no one gives a fork about him. We are told about some part of his past life (Will’s life) but was it before or after the three kings sign their lives up to get all mighty? All the other characters are kind of racist at length, lion’s are all baddies, humans are all disgusting smelly creatures, James is the right hand of the dark king because so was he in is past life but then here comes Will that convince people to see past their prejudices except when it comes to himself. I want to know!
