À propos de ce contenu audio

Ninety-nine elite American soldiers are trapped in the middle of a hostile city. As night falls, they are surrounded by thousands of enemy gunmen. Black Hawk Down drops you into a crowded marketplace in the heart of Mogadishu, Somalia with the U.S. Special Forces - and puts you in the middle of the most intense firefight American soldiers have fought since the Vietnam War. Award-winning literary journalist Mark Bowden's dramatic narrative captures this harrowing ordeal through the eyes of the young men who fought that day. He draws on his extensive interviews of participants from both sides - as well as classified combat video and radio transcripts - to bring their stories to life.©1999 Mark Bowden, All Rights Reserved (P)1999 Simon & Schuster, Inc., All Rights Reserved, AUDIOWORKS Is an Imprint of Simon & Schuster Audio Division, Simon & Schuster Inc. Avis de l'équipe

It' isn't like this title needs more publicity. After all, the movie has generated a lot of renewed interest in Mark Bowden's account of a disastrous U.S. military mission in Somalia that left elite U.S. soldiers dead and resulted in hundreds of Somali casualties. What makes this such a powerful audio download is the superb reading by Joe Morton and the way the story is structured: soldier by soldier. Each dramatic setback is topped one on the other, building the sense of fear and confusion. More than a war story, it raises big questions about coping with highly unconventional warfare. (John B.)
