North Korea has taken down many of the electrical grids worldwide with cyber and terrorist physical attacks, and it's lights out for America and her allies. Our stalwart survivors team up with others to defend what they have and bravely forage out to scavenge what’s left of society in a coastal city. Supplies are low, food is disappearing at an alarming rate, and game is getting scarce as desperate people do even more desperate things to survive.

North Korea has a plan to take down the United States and deceive the whole world in the process of just how they are going to go about it. A secret military plan code named “Smoking Skillet” is to be put into play to crush America and its allies' infrastructure and cause societal and economic collapse. A devilishly plausible scheme with lots of deniability built in is concocted by an alliance between the would be atomic powers of Iran and North Korea that ends up causing a nuclear exchange and lights out for much of the modern world.

The grid is down and electric bikes are the transportation of choice for the coming apocalypse, but where do you find one in this deserted beach town? The prepper couple forages for food and other supplies in the looted-out vacation spot and lucks up on a restaurant supply truck. A small group of people still living at the marina seems to hold the key to reforming society but closely guards its secrets and turf against strangers.

This an apocalyptic story of survival from the perspectives of several survivors trying to live through it and survive from the start of the disaster to eight months after. They must come together to form a community by their entrepreneurial efforts and networking. The disaster, starvation, and societal collapse in this dystopian world is seen through the eyes of a pair of older vacationers who just happen to get stranded at the beach.
