    • Downey & Martez: Buccaneers disappointing season ends with a dud against Dallas
      Jan 21 2023
The season may be over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Trey Downey and Len Martez are still back with a brand new edition of the Downey and Martez podcast.  The guys begin this week’s show by discussing Tampa Bay’s embarrassing 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The guys try to zero in on what exactly went wrong. Len echoes quarterback Tom Brady’s post game comments, while Trey highlights one specific stretch that he thought swung the game in Dallas’ favor. Before moving on to the breaking coaching news, the guys discuss Brady’s “goodbye” to the Tampa Bay media. This leads to a debate on whether he is truly done in Tampa. And if he is, does that mean his career is over as well? The conversation then pivots to the news that offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich has been fired. Trey & Len talk about whether the Bucs should’ve made this move during the season and pondered why it wasn’t. The fellas then put the spotlight on Todd Bowles and the fact that all signs point to him returning as Buccaneers head coach. Trey and Len agree that they aren’t surprised by the move but disagree on whether that was the move Tampa Bay front office should’ve made. The duo closes the podcast by looking at the NFL divisional playoff round and letting you know if they expect any upsets.  Don’t forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. Jan 14 2023
Super wildcard weekend is here and Trey Downey and Len Martez are back to break it all down on a new edition of Downey and Martez. The guys start the podcast by discussing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being scheduled for Monday Night Football and if they are surprised by that. The guys then move on to break down the game. Trey rewound to Tampa Bay’s week one win over the Dallas Cowboys and asks Len if Bucs fans need to hope for a similar game if they are to pull off the upset. The guys then discuss whether Dallas’ performance against the Washington Commanders makes them more confident about the Bucs chances. The fellas then move on to the keys of the game. On offense, Len focuses on the running game while Trey says they need explosive plays through the play action passing game. On the defensive side, Trey zeroes in on forcing turnovers while Len says it is all about a certain acronym, PDA.  Before moving on to the rest of the weekend Trey and Len discuss the possibility of center Ryan Jensen playing and debate which team is under more pressure. Lastly on the podcast, the guys look at the rest of the NFL games during wildcard round and tell you which games they think will be the most competitive. • Downey & Martez: Big plays lead to another Buccaneers double digit comeback win
      Jan 7 2023
It was a long, winding road to get here but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are NFC South division champions. So Trey Downey and Len Martez are back to discuss the accomplishment on a new edition of Downey and Martez.  Trey praises the Buccaneers performance against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but Len’s take that it was much of the same leads to a heated debate on just what we saw at Raymond James Stadium this past Sunday. Trey focuses on the explosive plays while Len points out that Tampa Bay still struggled mightily in the running game & had to overcome another fourth quarter double digit deficit. The guys then move onto the ramifications from the game and discuss whether head coach Todd Bowles’ job is now safe for next year. That conversation took a turn towards South Florida & the two discuss Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s future in Miami.  Trey then poses the question to Len on who Bucs fans should want to face on wildcard weekend. Len explains why the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are both bad matchups but eventually leans in a certain direction.  The guys close the podcast by both expressing their concern and optimism in regards to Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin’s scary incident and subsequent recovery. The guys also discuss what the NFL is doing in terms of playoff seeding in the AFC.  Don’t forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts.
