    • How movement lifts your mood (with Andy Keefe)
      Feb 23 2022

Join Andy Keefe and myself for a fascinating discussion about the importance of keeping emotions in motion. Andy describes how he successfully combines his work as a psychotherapist and a personal trainer. He works effectively with clients by using his therapeutic skills, EMDR, physical exercise, core strengthening and boxercise.

Exercise is crucial for emotional fitness, lifting and changing mood, moving depression and releasing blocked emotion. Andy discusses how the body holds trauma and emotion and when we trust the intelligence of the body, it knows how to release it through motion.

Andy talks in depth about the interconnection of body and emotions which we are often unconsciously aware of the affect. Every sensory experience the body has had will translate into the sensory motor system, recording it and communicating this data to the muscles and joints. Learning to listen and pay attention to intelligence of the body is crucial in developing emotional fitness.

Andy leaves us with three key exercises to help us tune into the body and keep emotions in motion.

      • Complete cardio and complex movement work
      • Work on strengthening your Core – building strength lift moods
      • Exercise outside
