    Following his suicide, Dorrough leaves a confession to the murder of three people, but doesn't name them. In a remote community on the Dampier Peninsula, Kate meets Indigenous elder Irene Davey, whose daughter Sara-Lee went missing in Broome on January 14, 1997. That same night, Dorrough is also in Broome, his Navy ship is moored at the jetty. After a night out, he tries bringing Sara-Lee back to his ship. She is never seen again.

  • Ep 3: Rachael

    In Sydney, the body of Rachael Campbell is discovered, lying in a church carpark. The young Maori woman had migrated to Australia from New Zealand as child and had fallen into addiction before being murdered. At the time, Dorrough is in Sydney. His Kombi van is parked near where Rachael’s body is found, but no one is arrested over the killing. Soon after, Dorrough moves to Queensland.

    After months of trying to contact her without success, Kate finally meets Dorrough’s fiancee - the woman who received his confession following his suicide. She talks about their life together, describing Dorrough as 'a great father', but slowly opens up about his darker habits, including how he started to tell her things she didn't understand, like how to dispose of bodies....

  • Ep 8: Bloodguilt

    Kate and Dan make a final effort to identify Dorrough's third, unidentified, victim. What they learn forces them to look again at the way they’ve told this story. They go back to the beginning and, in this telling, Dorrough's story is more normal and at the same time, much more troubling. Dan accepts that he can never see the world in the same way again.
