    Joan Crawford is an icon of old Hollywood, and arguably one of the most famous actresses of all time... for better or for worse. Despite starring in over 80 films, winning an Academy Award, and being among the top female earners of her time, her legacy was vastly overshadowed by her depiction in the movie Mommie Dearest. Based on a book written by her adopted daughter, Christine, Mommie Dearest showed the public what Joan was really like behind closed doors - a neurotic alcoholic, who demanded perfection and obedience from her children. But, many people refuse to believe Christina's claims, and think she made the story up for revenge.
