Ana Veciana-Suarez is a syndicated columnist and author of several books, including "Flight to Freedom," a young adult novel, and "Birthday Parties in Heaven: Thoughts on Life, Love, Grief, and Other Matters of the Heart," a collection of essays. Her novel, "The Chin Kiss King," was nominated for the prestigious IMPAC Award, an international competition in Dublin. Two of her nonfiction books about the Hispanic media were published by The Media Institute, a think tank in Washington D.C. Further, her commentary has been included in several anthologies and she also has earned a National Headliner, a Clarion Award, a Green Eyeshade and two Sunshine State Awards. Veciana-Suarez has also received an Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the state of Florida for fiction writing. She lives in Miami with her family and thanks her five children for teaching her immeasurable humility.
