Rethinking Our History

De : Felicia and Ian Lindsey
  • Résumé

  • In this new bi monthly show from the host of The Paranormal Lovers we take a look at some of histories less well known events. Why are they less well known? Because " History is written by the victors."

So we are here to look at the other side of the story, and to give people a starting point to learn about the true history of this country.

I'm sure most people have never heard of Martin Couney, so we are bringing his story, and a little bit of ours, to the masses.

Born in what was German Prussia at the time, Martin's early life is not well known. For what ever reason he was very secretive about his early life.

But whatever he did in his early life, can not over shadow what he did later in life. After allegedly studying under a French OB, Martin set out to bring the use of incubators for premature babies to the states.

It would take over 20 years before people began using this method, and if it wasn't for Martin's passion, over 6500 babies could have lost their lives.

So during NICU Awareness month we want to thank the man who brought a life saving machine to the US. As parents of a preemie, we are forever grateful.

This week are are looking into the case that created OSHA, and paved the way for the labor and safety laws we have today.

This laws were put in place after thousands of women began getting sick and dying. Their deaths were at first attributed to and STD, but it soon became apparent that was not the case.

We have all been taught the story of Rosa Parks in school, but what we were taught was not the whole story. Rosa's actions that day were staged after another woman did the same thing.

Claudette Colvin was a pregnant 15 year old dark skinned black girl who one day refused to give her seat up on the bus. But Claudette did not look the way they needed her to look to get the sympathy from white people that the black community needed to make a change.

So they sent in Rosa, and told Claudette to just be quite. Well we are here to tell her story and make sure the world knows, without Claudette, there would have been no Rosa.
